Booking a photography or video session can feel like a big thing, whether it’s something personal (like photos of you and your pet), something intimate (like boudoir), or something professional (like brand visuals for your business). So I wanted to create a simple, clear walk-through of what working with me actually looks like.
How do we start?
Everything begins with a conversation, usually over email or DMs, sometimes its over the phone.
You tell me what you’re imagining, even if it’s messy or unsure. You don’t need to know the exact location, outfits, or style yet (that’s what I help with).
Once we confirm:
- Session type
- Date + time
- Rough location or vibe
I’ll send over:
- A short questionnaire (just enough to get to know you)
- A contract + invoice (transparency matters)
- A prep guide (tailored to the type of session you booked)
- And from there, we take our time planning something that feels right.
How long does a session take?
Most sessions run between 45 minutes and 90 minutes, depending on what we’re creating.
Pet & portrait sessions sometimes move slower, especially if we’re giving your pet time to settle, or allowing you time to warm up in front of the camera.
Boudoir sessions include extra space for grounding and comfort.
Commercial + branding sessions can range from 1 hour to a full day, depending on the scope.
But here’s the key thing:
We don’t rush.
We work at a human (and pet) pace.
What should I wear / bring / prepare?
I’ll send you a personalized prep guide once we book.
But here are the basics:
For people:
Wear something comfortable that feels like you
Choose textures and colours that make you feel at ease
Bring backup layers in case you want variety
For pets:
Bring treats, water, and anything comforting (favorite toy, blanket, harness)
Let me know in advance about anxieties, sensitivities, or reactivity. I adapt everything for them
For commercial projects:
We’ll build a visual mood + shot list together so we’re aligned and efficient
Preparation matters, but it doesn’t have to be stressful. I’ll guide you through it.
What happens during the session?
My approach is calm, patient, and steady.
I don’t force poses. I don’t rush. I don’t expect perfection.
I’ll guide you gently when needed, but I’ll also make space for genuine, natural moments. Some of the best images happen in between the “posed” ones, when you’re laughing, breathing, or connecting with your pet in a way that feels like home.
If we’re filming video, there may be quiet pauses, movement prompts, or simple direction to help things feel fluid and real.
The whole goal is:
You feel comfortable.
Your pet feels comfortable.
Your brand feels honest.
What about editing & delivery?
After your session:
I narrow down the best images / clips
I edit everything with care and intention
You’ll receive your gallery or video via an online link where you can download files directly. If you’d like prints, albums, or framed pieces, I’ll help you choose what fits your space and lifestyle.
Turnaround times vary slightly by session type, but I’ll always give you a clear timeline up front.
Can I bring a friend / partner / second animal / etc.?
Yes.
If their presence supports your comfort, your pet’s confidence, or the story we’re telling, they’re welcome.
If it becomes too overwhelming, we can gently adjust. I’m flexible. This is a collaborative process, not a rigid formula.
What if I’m awkward / nervous / not photogenic?
You don’t need to be anything.
Not posed.
Not perfect.
Not polished.
Your only job is to show up exactly as you are, I’ll take care of the rest.
People say they’re awkward all the time, and then they see their photos and realize they’re actually just human; soft, real, and deeply lovable.
Thanks for taking the time to read this. If you have a question I didn’t cover, just ask. I’m an open book.
I’m here to make this feel safe, relaxed, and meaningful — no pressure, no performance.
